Building Energy Certificates
We are familiar with seeing an energy rating on a refrigerator; and now we will become familiar seeing an energy rating on property.
The EU’s Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) aims to deliver greater transparency on the energy efficiency of all buildings.
Each European country is developing its own response to the requirements of the EPBD and we are able to help any organisation to comply with its local scheme.
Let’s take two examples
In Sweden we had an 18 month secondment to the Government to help develop the national energy efficiency plan and response to the ESD Directive, a sister Directive to the EPBD. We also conduct energy performance certificates and have developed a tool, the Energy Rose, for the Swedish implementation of the EPBD directive.
The UK developed an Energy Performance Certification (EPC) scheme which measures the fabric and systems of a building, and a Display Energy Certification (DEC) scheme which measures the energy efficiency with which a building is run. We are a leading provider of these services and ran an awareness campaign where we educated over 500 people across the property market. Get more information on EPC and DEC.
In essence, we can help you to determine when certificates will be required, prioritise schedules across a portfolio, prepare floor plans, conduct surveys, and construct the appropriate energy models and deliver the registration and certificate.
