Internal Communication Programmes

Communication is critical to the effective implementation and adoption of any programme designed to change behaviours and deliver enhanced performance.

Our role is to ensure that your strategy and communication activities for issues such as environmental management, sustainability commitments or health and safety programmes, deliver the desired objectives and outcomes.  Our emphasis is on:

  • Driving behavioural and cultural change that embeds good practice as ‘business as usual’
  • Positioning key messages and linking strategic objectives with your operational realities
  • Increasing capacity within your business to enable people to identify risks and opportunities, and take appropriate actions
  • Encouraging two-way communication, enabling staff to contribute and see their ideas adopted or issues addressed
  • Ensuring utilisation of the most effective communication channels within your business

An effective internal communication programme will achieve buy-in to your vision and goals.  Tailored to your specific structure and needs, some of the ideas we advocate include:

  • Targeted communications to key groups with specific responsibilities
  • Linking soft messages such as ‘recycle more’ with must do messages such as ‘procure the right paper’
  • Providing staff with a framework to respond to communications
  • Clear explanations on the reason for addressing environmental and sustainability issues
  • Promotion of early successes to drive further buy-in
  • Local champions, empowered through specific training, and engagement of a senior management champion
  • A campaign programme to raise awareness on different issues
  • Formal procedures and guidelines translated into simple, job specific instructions that mirror existing successful approaches
  • Senior management briefings to highlight risks and opportunities

We will collaborate with you and review your planned programmes and communications strategy.  With you, we will identify the key messages, the prime objectives and the stakeholder groups.  We’ll also help you put the communications into action and support you with coaching, workshop facilitation, and measurement of impacts and outcomes.
