No: 1152332 LEGIONELLA & WATER RISK MANAGEMENT Minimising the risk of persons contracting Legionellosis is a key part of managing water quality and hygiene. WSP Risk Management Services will help you to understand and implement any necessary precautions. LEGAL OBLIGATIONS Under the Health and safety at Work Act 1974 every employer has the duty to conduct his undertaking in such a way as is reasonably practical to avoid exposing both those in his employ and those not in his employ to risks to their health and safety. The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) 2002 (Amended 2004) requires that a Risk Assessment is carried out with the aim to develop a written scheme to prevent or control any such risks and to implement any control measures identified. This also requires monitoring their effectiveness and training of staff in their need and application. The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 also requires an employer to put in place procedures for dealing with accidents, emergencies and for contacting emergency services in the event of these risks materializing. The HSE Approved Code of Practice - L8, gives guidance on what is reasonably practical and good practice to help meet these legal requirements with respect to minimizing the risk of Legionellosis.
