Advising EPA Climate Leaders Program in US
In the US we provide technical assistance to the Environmental Protection Agency's 'Climate Leaders Program'. It's an industry-government partnership that works with companies to develop comprehensive climate change strategies. We're helping over 80 companies in the program to develop GHG inventories and complete reporting requirements. The whole program will prevent more than 50m metric tons of CO2 per year.

Low carbon food recipes for Unilever in Sweden
Global food service giant, Unilever, has worked with our sustainability specialists in Sweden to develop a learning programme for schools focused on climate smart school meals with food recipes and a website to inform about food with a low carbon impact. The model calculates the carbon impact of a number of Unilever's products, sauces and bouillons and compares them against the impacts of making the 'sauce' using basic ingredients. The work is helping Unilever focus on low carbon impact recipes.

LCA of consumer electronic products for WRAP
What is the life cycle impact of your vacuum cleaner? We investigated the impact of eighteen electronic products for the UK-based WRAP programme...

Greenhouse gas inventories for Oxfam
WSP developed the greenhouse gas inventory for OXFAM's Asia-Pacific operations, from Northern China to Southern ASEAN. Our scope included definition of organizational boundaries, development of a reporting template, completion of the inventory and transfer of maintenance tools to OXFAM in-house staff.
-
LCA for Australian vending machine company
We undertook a Life Cycle Assessment of vending machines. This was to feed the design of a new cutting edge product that included rapid cooling technologies so that machines did not have to keep drinks cool all the time. We looked at the logistics of filling these machines and how smart, internet-linked machines could be developed to facilitate this.
-
Carbon footprint for Diageo
WSP evaluated the carbon footprint of Diageo's Scottish manufacturing operations with the aim of producing a robust understanding of the carbon impact of the supply chain in Scotland. This has helped to develop brand associated carbon labelling and identified the parts of the manufacturing process that contribute most to the carbon footprint.
-
Carbon labels for UK food ingredients company
WSP evaluated the carbon footprint for a leading global food ingredient company. The footprint was developed in line with PAS2050 - Specification for the assessment of the life cycle greenhouse gas emissions of goods and services. The footprint model was independently verified to enable the client to place a carbon label on the product.
-
Carbon footprinting and environmental management for Skanska in Sweden
Our work with Skanska, one of the world's leading construction groups, has most recently involved advising their central team in Sweden on the development of a carbon footprinting protocol to help align the approach taken by all of their business areas. And in the UK we have assisted them in achieving certification to the international Environmental Management System standard, ISO 14001.
