  • In-situ chemical reduction at manufacturing facility

We characterized the nature and extent of a release from a hexavalent chromium plating line. Following this we demonstrated efficacy for in-situ fixation of the chromium and applied the technology throughout the affected aquifer. This approach achieved an unrestricted use closure of the site.

  • Award-winning investigation and interim actions at a Superfund Site, Florida, US

WSP has been working with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to investigate and remediate the environmental conditions of a 1,000 acre former phosphate mining site in Central Florida.

  • Remediation and reclamation of former lead mining Superfund site

Remedial design and construction oversight services for a former lead mining Superfund site in Cherokee County, Kansas, USA.

  • In-situ bioremediation of manufacturing facility

Investigation and characterization of central Georgia manufacturing facility. Following this work, we designed and implemented the remedial program. WSP's integrated remediation approach resulted in significant cost savings for the client.

  • Managing change at a 190ha former smelting site in Australia

This is Pasminco Cockle Creek Smelter in Australia.  Our specialist project management and environmental teams are managing the complete over-haul of this 190ha, contaminated, former lead and zinc smelter site. We've completed the site demolition, one of the biggest in the country, and are working on the remediation.

  • Geotechnical investigations and remediation for new Abu Dhabi wildlife resort

Al Ain Zoo and Aquarium is being transformed into a world-class wildlife park and resort and we have provided an integrated service support, including: Remediation of contaminated land; Geotechnical Investigations; § Environmental Impact Assessment; Sustainability Action Plan; LEED Principles; Protection of Marine Fossils in the Mountain area of the site; and Archaeology.

  • Demolition and remediation of Australian sites for eco-housing

Heritage Pacific developed 237 eco-friendly houses across two sites in South East Queensland.  WSP Environment & Energy managed the demolition and remediation of these two sites.  60% of land was left as forest in order to preserve a local koala habitat.  WSP provided carbon footprinting data for this project, a project with the aim of carbon neutrality.

  • Remediation of former vehicle manufacturing site in the UK

We are proud of what we have achieved at the Longbridge site over the last 3 years.  Approximately 500,000 litres of petrol product has been recovered to date from this former vehicle manufacturing site.  The use of vacuum enhanced product skimming and 101 remediation wells has been employed to clean up this site.

  • Remediation of former army barracks in Germany

Our pilot studies told us that this former dry cleaning facility at Paderborn Barracks required chemical oxidation to remediate tetrachloroethene contamination.  Our team of in-house UK remediation contractors joined forces with our colleagues in Berlin to remediate this site for Defence Estates in Germany.

  • Remediation for luxory marina in South Africa

The remediation and verification monitoring of this timber processing plant was to enable the construction of a luxury residential marina.  This marina is South Africa's first major brownfield redevelopment project.  Former uses on this site meant that we were dealing with timber treatment chemicals contaminated land (creosote and CCA).
