Supporting the development of a New Community in the UK
Gallagher Estates are the master developer of a new community in Bedfordshire. The site will see the introduction of 4,500 new homes and the primary infrastructure to support it. We have been providing contaminated land investigation, geotechnical testing, remediation strategy production, demolition strategy for existing site structures and asbestos consultancy services.

Environmental management for effluent treatment facility in the UK
For a Gressingham Foods site we conducted a full site monitoring programme including hydrogeological monitoring to assess likely impact of groundwater and surface water from potential emissions. Our involvement also included an engineering feasibility study to identify suitable effluent treatment options for a Best Available Technique (BAT) appraisal.

Complex site investigation in the US
WSP Environment & Energy recently designed and managed a complex investigation and remediation project. The project involved construction of a condominium at an active service station. We developed a very aggressive remediation plan for soils and groundwater that was implemented as part of the building construction. And the project was completed on schedule and under budget.

Land assessment at Beckton Gasworks in the UK
Beckton Gasworks was formerly the largest gasworks in Europe at 200 hectares. A range of coal gasification equipment was present on the site including retorts, tar tanks and gasholders. Appointed under a term framework agreement, we have undertaken ground investigation and geotechnical design, QRA, remediation design, implementation and assessment, and earthworks design and supervision.

Land Assessment services for waste facilities in South Africa
An industrial site dating back to the early 1900's was a subject of concern for Silicon Technologies (Pty) Ltd. A number of waste facilities required WSP Environment & Energy to undertaken investigation, conduct a risk assessment and develop an Environmental Management Plan for the site which contained a variety of inorganic contaminants including mercury.

Soil studies and monitoring for lakeside development in Finland
We've been commissioned by Metsämannut Oy (who represent the Finnish forest industry giant M-real Oyj). Our soils studies, remediation and monitoring services will help the development of a new lakeside residential project. Lielahti is adjacent to the city of Tampere and consists of an old timber mill site and its landfill.

Managing change at a 190ha former smelting site in Australia
This is Pasminco Cockle Creek Smelter in Australia. Our specialist project management and environmental teams are managing the complete over-haul of this 190ha, contaminated, former lead and zinc smelter site. We've completed the site demolition, one of the biggest in the country, and are working on the remediation.

Environmental investigations for petroleum refiner and transportation fuels company in the US
WSP Environment & Energy provides environmental investigation, remediation, environmental compliance, and due diligence services to an independent petroleum refiner and marketer of high-value transportation fuels in the mid-continental U.S. The work includes two comprehensive, large-scale remediation projects. The ongoing and completed projects WSP has performed for this client range from $10,000 to more than $2 million.
