  • Green building regulations for Dubai

    Dubai needed a framework to manage its urban fabric and improve the efficiency of its new and existing building stock. So WSP worked to produce a new Green Building Regulatory System that included the development of regulations, practice guides, key performance indicators, training programmes and public information and education.

  • Urban development framework for Dubai

    Dubai needed a sophisticated development model to guide it through its growth. In collaboration with Urbis, we produced a flexible and fully integrated development planning and management framework for Dubai to the year 2020 which included a government framework and a bespoke and unique set of strategies, policies and spatial plans.   • Environmental regulatory framework for Saudi Arabia

    We helped to develop a system of environmental legislation, standards, regulations and enforcement for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. We conducted a strategic review of operations, produced a recommendations report and the moved onto the design and development of a performance-based regulatory regime which covers water, waste, air and noise amongst others.   • European sustainability brief for GE Real Estate

    We developed a Sustainability Design Brief for major new developments and refurbishments for GE Real Estate. The Brief sets out the criteria to be considered and reported against and has been developed to be applicable across Europe, taking into consideration the different techniques across the region. It covered energy and CO2, water, materials, waste, pollution, and comfort, health and well-being.

  • Sustainability toolkit for PRuPIM

    WSP worked with PRuPIM to develop a sustainability framework and toolkit to ensure their buildings were developed and operated sustainably. It guides and challenges designers to meet company standards and regulatory compliance, but too move beyond best practice.  We produced a paper tool with key considerations in a matrix, all of which can be tailored for online use.

  • Legal registers for global real estate company

    We produced Legal Registers GE Real Estate to ensure their buildings are legally compliant at all times with all relevant energy regulations. We developed registers for a number of countries in which they operate, all of which included; landlord and tenant obligations; new-build, operation and refurbishment requirements; and horizon scanning to identify possible future regulations.

  • Sustainability benchmarking for European cities

    WSP was commissioned by Veolia to develop a framework to benchmark all European cities based on their sustainability performance. This benchmark will identify the sustainability strengths and weaknesses of individual cities. WSP developed a number of indicators relating to GHG emissions, energy use, water consumption and waste generation.

  • Carbon profiling for Marks & Spencer in the UK

    Marks & Spencer has a  5-year eco plan and we are working with them to develop a carbon profile of their UK operations. This includes direct carbon output from stores, depots and offices, and staff travel. And indirect carbon outputs from suppliers and customers, including packaging disposal, customers' use of products and customers' travel to and from their stores.
