EH&S due diligence for foundries in China
We delivered due diligence and costed remedial strategies for McWane's investment to a Joint Venture in China. This required 5 Phase I environmental health and safety reports on foundries across China, and preparation of costed remedial strategies. We also reviewed their budget for future EHS integration activities for the JV project. We completed the work within the clients' tight timeframe of three weeks.

Corporate acquisition of Australian petrol retail business
WSP was jointly commissioned by the vendor & purchaser to provide environmental due diligence in relation to the proposed acquisition of a rural petrol distribution and retail business with over 50 sites across Queensland and the Northern Territory of Australia. We also undertook liability-focussed contamination investigations for 32 sites along a 15,000km route within a 6 week period.

Acquisition environmental due diligence for steel manufacturing company - Americas, Asia and Europe
We used our global capability to respond quickly to deliver environmental assessments of 4 sites across 3 continents for the prospective purchaser (client name confidential) of a major steel manufacturer. Our regional teams were able to assess liabilities associated with soil and groundwater contamination in the context of relevant national and regional legislation with findings reported to internationally accepted standards. We also quantified capital expenditure to address environmental issues associated with re-commissioning a dormant production site and meeting relevant local emissions standards.

Acquisition environmental due diligence for UK food and beverage manufacturer
We supported Brake Brothers with their environmental due diligence process for the acquisition of Woodward Food Services. We assessed the potential for contamination liabilities across the portfolio of 9 facilities, and worked closely with their legal team, Addleshaw Goddard, to ensure any identified environmental liabilities were appropriately managed as part of the transaction.

Acquisition environmental due diligence across Europe and Asia
As part of their proposed acquisition of Wal-Mart's property business, Gazeley Limited, Linklaters LLP commissioned WSP on behalf of Dubai World, to undertake a review of the information already contained in the Project Colour electronic data room, and a desk based study review of historical information. We formally presented to the advisors and Client, summarising the environmental risks attached to the portfolio prior to them submitting their initial bid.

EH&S due diligence for laboratory business across Australia and New Zealand
We delivered due diligence for a number of acquisitions made by Amdel Laboratories, a business owned by Champ Ventures, and subsequently completed a vendor due diligence exercise of Amdel prior to the sale of the business to Bureau Veritas. The deal won the 'Best Management Buyout <$100m' at AVCAL 2008.

IPO environmental due diligence for oil and gas equipment manufacturer
Law firm Freshfields commissioned us to carry out EDD of Lamprell Energy Ltd to facilitate the flotation of the company on the stock market. Lamprell operate across five sites in the UAE and our work focused on EHS due diligence, including assessment of the sites' environmental sensitivity, and consultations with the local and national regulatory authorities. We submitted reports 14 days after instruction.

Acquisition environmental due diligence for automotive parts manufacturer
Tinicum Capital Partners LP commissioned us to audit 13 primary manufacturing facilities owned by Dana Corp Engine Products. Utilizing our global team we completed reviews across 11 countries including Germany, Spain, France, Slovakia and Argentina to inform the client on the risks. Ultimately they elected against completing the acquisition.

Auditing for European Bank for Reconstruction and Development
We conducted a large number of environmental, social, H&S reviews on behalf of the EBRD who assess funding support. Examples include; auditing two glass plants in the Ukraine where we assessed risks and potential liabilities and prepared an environmental action plan to ensure best practice; auditing 20 sites for Unimilk Dairies in Russia and the Ukraine; and auditing and environmental planning for 3 sites for Lafarge Cement plants in Russia.

We were jointly commissioned by Ausfuel & a potential purchaser to provide Environmental Due Diligence (EDD) services in relation to the proposed acquisition of Ausfuel, a rural petrol distribution and retail businesses.
