Profile

Brent joined WSP 5 years ago. For the first 3 years Brent was Managing Director of our business in South Africa, based in the Johannesburg head office. That business has now grown into an established and reputed environmental consultancy in the region with over 30 people across 4 offices. Brent maintains responsibility for the region but in 2007 moved to Dubai to lead our growing operation in the Middle East, as well as developing our presence in India. So there's no typical week for Brent!

 

Brent is responsible for the leadership and strategic development of these businesses, as well as being involved in key client relationships and projects. This has seen Brent work on the largest power and water desalination plant in the world located in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on Dubai's Urban Development Framework and on the Murowa Diamond mine in southern Africa.

 

Brent's Background

Brent has 15 years post-graduate experience in the field of environmental, sustainability, waste and contaminated land consulting. He has been involved in a number of high profile projects, including the Dubai Green Buildings Project, Dubai Urban Development Framework, Sustainability Guidelines for Jumeirah Garden City, Marafiq Independent Water and Power Project (all in Middle East), Murowa Diamonds Expansion Project, Maputo Iron and Steel Project and the Independent Environmental Audit of the Gautrain Rapid Rail Link (all in Southern Africa).

 

His skills include environmental project management, environmental and social impact assessments, stakeholder engagement, sustainability advice and planning, environmental management plans, pre-acquisition, due diligence and compliance auditing, environmental risk assessment, waste management, contaminated land, environmental policy, regulation and strategic review.

 

Prior to joining WSP Brent was the Group Manager of the Environmental, Geotechnical and Waste Division for a large consulting and engineering firm in South Africa. His career has seen him work across many sectors, including industrial, infrastructure and energy, and across many locations including; United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, India, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Seychelles and Angola.
