2010 EIA Regulations: Effective 2 August 2010

The new NEMA EIA Regulations, gazetted on 18 June 2010, come into effect on 2 August 2010, fully replacing the 2006 EIA Regulations.

Numerous changes to the EIA Regulations have been made including reference to the NEMA Amendment Act 62 of 1008 provisions, new definitions, 3 listing notices of activities requiring environmental authorisation (opposed to the previous 2 lists), and clarification of timeframes.  The new EIA Regulations, 2010 will have implications on some existing applications as well as proposed activities requiring authorisation.
