Framework agreement with National Energy Agency in Sweden

Our long-standing relationship with the National Energy Agency in Sweden has recently expanded to a Framework Agreement that covers 34 of the Agency's working areas.

Two examples of the work we are engaged in with the Agency include:

• Reviewing the implementation of 'white certificates' in other European countries such as the UK, France, Denmark and Italy, to assess their success and impact. This analysis is of value to the Swedish Energy Agency to understand how to design and use the concept if it becomes mandatory under EU legislation. 'White certificates' are documents certifying a reduction in energy consumption and relate to power suppliers who must help educate and inform their customers to cut usage and become more energy efficient.

• Assessing the definition and implication of 'near zero energy buildings' for Sweden. The EU has declared that all public buildings will be 'near zero' by 2018, and all new buildings must be 'near zero energy' by 2020. We are assisting the National Energy Agency to under the consequences of the definitions and how to implement the policy.
