Derek Amidon, international Project & Resource Development leader, joins WSP | 23rd Mar 2011
Derek Amidon, P.E. has been named as WSP Environment & Energy's Global Service Leader for Minerals and Energy. Amidon will also be an Executive Vice President of the business and will lead WSP's Global Planning & Ecosystem Protection services.
Amidon joins WSP from Hess Corporation, a Fortune 100 globally integrated oil & gas company, where he has been a Vice President of Hess LNG leading project and business development for LNG import terminals from their New York City Corporate Headquarters. He has held a variety of senior leadership positions during his 20-year career in the power, oil & gas and consulting sectors including in environmental consulting and energy project development. During his work as a consultant, Amidon led business units that delivered a variety of project development, environmental, social responsibility and engineering services to global oil & gas, mining, infrastructure and electric power clients.
Amidon will report to Global Director of WSP Environment & Energy Bob Kloepfer, who comments, "We are excited to have an executive with such an extensive record of achievement in industry and consulting to lead our global Planning practice. Derek's leadership, particularly in supporting our clients in the natural resources and energy sectors, will enhance our organizational capability to meet the challenges and opportunities to sustain the growth of this important practice."
