LEED accreditation enhances sustainability skills in US | 4th Mar 2008
Craig B. Ramich, a senior project director in WSP Environment & Energy's Reston, Virginia, office in the US, has earned the status as a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Accredited Professional (AP), which is issued by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
The LEED® Green Building Rating System is a voluntary, consensus-based national rating system for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings. LEED addresses all building types and emphasizes state-of-the-art strategies in five areas: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials and resources selection, and indoor environmental quality.
Within WSP Group, Flack + Kurtz and SEI currently perform LEED® design and related services. WSP Environment & Energy will now leverage its 20+ years of environmental consulting experience in the US to aid developers, architects, and the entire building design team to maximize the number of credits a building may obtain to achieve its LEED® Green Building rating.
"It's a great opportunity for WSP Environment & Energy to integrate our services with our sister companies, as well as add incredible value to the overall Green Building design/build process" Ramich commented.
Mr. Ramich has evaluated environmental and indoor air quality conditions for the built environment since 1989, and has been employed by WSP Environment & Energy for over 15 years. Mr. Ramich holds a bachelor of science degree in environmental engineering from The Pennsylvania State University.
