Will your business be affected by the US Global Warming Solutions Act (AB32)? | 10th Mar 2009
If your facility burns natural gas, diesel or other fossil fuels in stationary sources, it may be regulated under California's greenhouse gas emissions reporting legislation adopted in support of the Global Warming Solutions Act (AB32).
Under this legislation, certain facilities are required to submit annual emissions reports beginning April 2009. They may also be required to participate in an emissions trading program beginning in 2012.
The emissions trading program will incentivize companies which take positive steps towards reducing greenhouse gas emissions below pre-determined levels, while penalizing those that exceed these levels. Facilities that take early action before the trading program commences, stand to benefit.
At WSP, we have a team of highly qualified climate change experts located in California who understand the State's evolving reporting and legislative requirements. We have direct experience in greenhouse gas emissions reporting and provide cost effective, best-in-class business solutions for managing environmental issues and reducing associated business risk.
