WSP announced 'Green Property Advisor of the Year' | 26th Oct 2009
WSP has beaten off stiff competition from Drivers Jones and Allen & Overy to scoop the title of 'Green Property Advisor of the Year'. The Estates Gazette Green Awards highlight and reward excellence in sustainable development in the UK.
Our award entry was strong. It detailed that we saved 478,781 tonnes of CO2 from the advice we offered our clients last year. It explained the pioneering work we have been doing on the concept of green leases in commercial operations. We majored on the seminars we ran last year to highlight the impact of the forthcoming Carbon Reduction Commitment scheme. And we featured our web-enabled energy monitoring service that is helping clients reduce their energy consumption ... in one case saving an organisation £30,000 of building running costs. We showcased how we delivered the sustainable infrastructure strategy for the world's first zero-carbon, zero-waste, car-free city... then went on to explain how we developed the 'net zero carbon strategy' for a 750 home development in the UK.
The 2009 judging panel recognised our holistic approach to helping clients combine sustainability with business, creating opportunities whilst reducing environmental impacts and ensuring legal compliance. That judging panel was made up of both industry heavy-weights and the results of online readership votes.
Other winners of Estates Gazette Green Awards include organisations such as Hammerson and Land Securities.
