WSP announces joint venture to provide engineering and consultancy services to the mining industry | 17th Oct 2011

TWSP will provide clients with strategy development, design, implementation and risk management for projects from exploration to mine closure. Andrew Mather, MD of WSP's Africa, Asia and Australia region, explained the thinking behind this move into mining:  "Entering into strategic alliances and joint ventures is one of the five pillars of our WSP Group Strategy Plan to 2015, enabling us to move into new markets that may otherwise be beyond our reach. TWSP brings together TWP's specialist expertise in a major growth industry with WSP's global reach - we're a good fit."

Dave Vink, the CEO of TWSP, added: "The combined TWP and WSP shareholding provides a new level of global professional resources and capabilities and a unique opportunity to expand into new geographies where we did not previously have a presence."  From its new head office in Perth, accommodating  90 staff including technical, scientific, project management and mining industry professionals , TWSP is immediately looking to expand into South Australia and Queensland and further, thanks to WSP's Australasian footprint, into Beijing, Shanghai, Schenzen, Manila, Singapore and Bangkok.
