WSP Environmental voted 'Advisor of the Year' at leading industry awards ceremony | 24th Jan 2007

WSP Environmental is today celebrating winning one of the industry's most prestigious awards, having been voted 'Environmental Advisor of the Year' at the 2007 Acquisitions Monthly Awards in London.

The Acquisition Monthly awards are regarded as one of the most high profile in the industry, reflecting the views of the corporate finance, investment and legal sectors. Having been previously highly commended, this is the first time WSP Environmental has won this award for our environmental due diligence expertise in support of M&A activity.

The award was announced by Henry Gibbon, the Editor of Acquisitions Monthly, who remarked on our growth, strategy and the quality of the submission as the deciding factors. Charles Kennedy MP presented the award to Tim Clare and Simon Pringle of WSP Environmental in front of over 500 of the corporate finance industry's most senior figures at the gala dinner at The Hilton, Park Lane, last night.

This achievement reflects the excellent work of the entire global Due Diligence team over a number of years in building a strong and recognised presence in the M&A market, with a reputation for delivering quality reporting to exacting timescales. In 2006 we have continued to invest in this team, notably strengthening our delivery capability in Europe and North America. We have advised on over 550 deals and have worked on M&A commissions involving the likes of Barclays Capital, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Travelodge, Acordis, Close Brothers, West Ham United Football Club and Macfarlanes.

Our presence in the M&A market has been further enhanced by the continuing development of WSP's multi-disciplinary offering. Issues such as carbon emissions, energy efficiency and corporate reputation are of increasing relevance in due diligence auditing, and we are able to introduce experts from across WSP to assist in the appraisals we undertake.

This award is a great achievement for the whole WSP Environmental team and reflects our leading role as a global environmental advisor.
