WSP support International Design Awards | 29th May 2009
To acknowledge and reward outstanding examples of sustainable design, WSP Environmental (WSP) cosponsored the 'Excellence in Sustainable Design' award offered through the 2009 Australian International Design Awards program run by Standards Australia.
Industry and student design awards are a valuable tool for further raising the profile and adoption of EcoDesign and product sustainability. Design awards also recognise and acknowledge the exceptional skills and capacity held by designers and product developers in Australia. WSP has been actively engaging with such awards programs to help further mainstream the economic, social and environmental relevance of EcoDesign and the broader business sustainability benefits it can deliver.
WSP also sponsored one of the main prizes for the 2009 Australasian Student Design Awards run by Australia's peak professional design body - the Design Institute of Australia. The winning student will spend several weeks undertaking an EcoDesign Internship with WSP and one of its key manufacturing clients.
John Gertsakis, WSP's Senior Sustainability Associate responsible for EcoDesign strategy, noted that"design awards and other peer reviewed programs are unequalled in identifying and recognising good design outcomes that effectively address life cycle thinking and overall product sustainability. As a global company we're more than pleased to be supporting smart Australian initiatives that can raise the profile of environmentally improved products and their design."
