WSP & the District of Columbia Building Industry Association | 1st Mar 2009

WSP Environment & Energy's team in Reston, Virginia recently joined the District of Columbia Building Industry Association (DCBIA) and now sits on their Environmental Committee advising on green legislation, as well as other environmental matters.

The DCBIA is the professional association representing both the commercial and residential real estate industries in the nation's capital. Its membership of nearly 500 companies and organizations comprises several thousand real estate professionals including developers, general contractors, architects and engineers, lenders, attorneys, brokers, title companies, utility companies, community development organizations and other industry members.

WSP is part of DCBIA's Environmental Committee which acts in an advisory function working to improve the environmental and 'green' processes within the DC government. Each month, the committee of developers, architects, attorneys and consultants meet to discuss and interpret environmental and 'green' legislation affecting the commercial real estate industry.

As a market leader in the fields of environmental compliance, sustainability and green building design, WSP is ideally placed to evaluate proposed and existing environmental and green building legislation. We are already advising a number of our clients on the potential environmental impacts on the development and operation of industrial and commercial properties. With expertise in specialist areas such as LEED certification, carbon management, and renewable energy, our professionals are able to make valuable contributions to the discussions and ultimately, to future legislative decisions in the industry.
