WSP’s John Gertsakis judges sustainability category at Australian Interior Design Awards | 8th Mar 2011
John Gertsakis, WSP's Senior Sustainability Associate responsible for EcoDesign solutions and product Stewardship strategy, is involved with the 2011 Australian Interior Design Awards, as the chairperson for Sustainability Advancement Award.
The awards recognise and celebrate interior design excellence via a credible, industry-based program, which is backed by the Design Institute of Australia, the professional body representing Australian designers.
This will be the third year that John has judged the Sustainability category of the awards. 2011 marks the arrival of a new category, the Sustainability Advancement Award, replacing the previous Environmentally Sustainable Design Award. Consideration for this award is automatic, on entry into one of the Primary Award categories.
"The need to seamlessly integrate sustainability into interior design has been clearly recongnised by this year's Awards, and the quality of applied research and innovative design was very reassuring. Interior designers in Australia understand the commercial, social and environmental benefits of delivering sustainable spaces and places" said John Gertsakis.
The official announcement and presentation to the winners will be made in a suitably grand style at the Peninsula in Melbourne on Friday 15th April 2011.
This is the eighth year that these annual Awards will provide international recognition for entrants and generate media and public interest for the Australian-based designers operating at the highest professional levels. Each year the awards attract 100's of entries, demonstrating the pre-eminence of the program.
