Our seminars & speakers

RetroCool is a seminar which asks how we can achieve sustainable and commercial success from an existing urban landscape.

This session is focused on the impacts of climate change, legislation and user demand on property. We will examine how existing buildings can be re-used for different purposes over many decades. And we will highlight operational easy wins and simple refurbishment steps that achieve effective energy efficient results.

Our presenters are: Bill Price, a Director responsible for structural engineering. His impressive track record covers a range of building types and engineering techniques. Project experience includes involvement with The Shard at London Bridge, Barclaycard HQ in Northampton, Wellcome Trust, London and currently The People's Congress Palace in Libya.

Bill is joined by Chris Stubbs an Energy Project Director specialising in energy engineering, project management and process engineering. Chris' track record includes project direction of an industry wide carbon accreditation scheme for Europe's leading airport operators, and responsibility for our ground-breaking Energy Bureau programme.

FutureCool is a seminar to challenge what our future urban environment will look like.

Adapting to a low carbon world will change all aspects of our lives: from our cities, to trade, commerce and lifestyle choices. We will need to move beyond resource efficiency to eco-effectiveness. But whilst change is needed, it's not the end of modern living. This session will explore how we will drive successful change and conceptualise cities and economies in a way we've never done before.

Our presenters are: Peter Sharratt, Director of Sustainability & Climate Change. A trained architect, Peter is an internationally recognised thought leader on sustainability working with governments, corporates and developers alike. Project direction includes the conceptual masterplan for Masdar City, a low carbon infrastructure plan for Harvard, and masterplans for the world's first 'crade-2-cradle' cities in Asia and the Pacific region.

Peter is joined by Andrew Cameron, Director of Urban Design, who specialises in how to plan for movement and create great urban spaces. Andrew was part of the team involved on Poundbury in Dorchester and was an advisor to the Government with the Urban Task Force, co-authoring 'Manual for Streets' amongst other papers. He is currently delivering strategic advice to large masterplanning projects in Scotland, Eastern England and the South West.
